Cooperations

The project is carried out in cooperation with the following institutions:

1Bühne Markgräfliches Opernhaus

Margravial Opera House
The Margravial Opera House was built on the occasion of the pompous wedding of Elisabeth Friederike Sophie, daughter of Margravine Wilhelmine of Bayreuth, and opened in 1748. The Italian Guiseppe Galli Bibiena, the leading theatre architect of his time, who had previously worked for the Viennese imperial court, was entrusted with the architecture of the building. His son Carlo Galli Bibiena supervised the construction, which started in 1745, and continued to produce stage prospectuses for Wilhelmine's opera productions in the years that followed. With its original audience box, the Margravial Opera House became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2012 as the best-preserved free-standing Baroque theatre.

Opernhausmuseum
The certification of the Markgräfliches Opernhaus as a UNESCO World Heritage Site was linked to the condition that a museum must be built where people could learn about the creation and use of the opera house.
The former Redoutenhaus, which directly adjoins the opera house and was the venue for cultural events before the opera house was built, is to house the new opera house museum. To this end, the building has been undergoing architectural adaptation since 2019 and is scheduled to open in spring 2022.

Schlösserverwaltung

Verwaltung der staatlichen Schlösser, Gärten und Seen
The Bavarian Administration of State Palaces, Gardens and Lakes, or Schlösserverwaltung for short, is one of the most traditional administrations in the Free State of Bavaria. Originating as the court administration of the electors and kings, today it is one of the largest state museum authorities in Germany with 45 palaces, castles and residences as well as other architectural monuments and artists' houses.
In addition, there is a very special historical heritage: the many magnificent court gardens, palace parks, gardens and lakes. The unique ensembles of European architecture paired with rich artistic furnishings attract over five million visitors from all over the world every year.

musica

Musica Bayreuth
Musica Bayreuth is the "most important musical event outside the Bayreuth Festival" (dpa). In 1961, Viktor Lukas, director of Musica Bayreuth until 2011, founded the "Organ and Music Week Bayreuth"; the occasion was the new construction of the large organ in the Stadtkirche, which was ceremoniously inaugurated on 17 September 1961. In the course of time, during which many renowned international organ virtuosos gave sacred concerts in Bayreuth, the programme opened up to soloist concerts, chamber music, choral and orchestral concerts, song recitals and oratorios and finally operas. So in 1971 the series of events was renamed "Musica Bayreuth", in which the Margravial Opera House always played a central role. Today, half a century later, the music festival is a resounding constant in the musical life of Bayreuth and the whole of northern Bavaria.

BR

Bayerischen Rundfunk-Klassik/Studio Franken
Among the more than twenty ARD studios, the Franconian branch of Bayerischer Rundfunk occupies a special position. It represents an area that is roughly the size of Hesse, but does not have the status of a federal state. Our information contributions can be found nationwide in ARD news programmes and magazines. In addition, of course, we report mainly on BR television as well as on the five radio programmes.
We also provide the people in the three Franconian regions with everything worth knowing in our weekday magazines "Frankenschau aktuell", "Mittags in Franken" and "Mittags in Mainfranken". Finally, our music department in the radio studios produces and broadcasts classical music as well as light music and regional folk music. About 140 permanent employees and a large number of freelancers produce about 3,000 hours of radio and television programmes a year.
